Two post-doctoral positions open in the Department of Neurobiology at the Poznan University of Physical Education (Poland):

Position 1: One post-doctoral position in “In Vivo Electrophysiology” is available in the Department of Neurobiology at the Poznan University of Physical Education (Poland) under the co-supervision of Marcin Bączyk and Daniel Zytnicki.

The position is funded by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) for 3 years with a very attractive gross annual salary of 120,000 PLN (approximately 5,500 to 6,000 PLN, monthly net salary), significantly exceeding the Polish average.

We are looking for motivated candidates with interest in the fields of neurophysiology, neurobiology, and neurodegeneration. The funded project aims at investigating the mechanisms underlying the breakdown of homeostatic scaling between synaptic excitation and motoneuron excitability in mice displaying Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. The project will be made in collaboration with Dr. Francesco Roselli at Ulm University (Germany).

The expected start of the contract is fall 2020, although this is possible to change due to the COVID-19 crisis. The candidate will be responsible for in vivo electrophysiological investigations in anaesthetized mice (intracellular recordings of spinal motoneurons). S/he will perform experiments, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and manuscript drafting. It should be noted that s/he will be trained for an approximate time period of 6 months in order to be fully operational with complex in vivo experiments that we master. We expect that the candidate has acquired a strong experience in in vivo electrophysiology during his/her PhD or a previous post-doc.

Working language is English and fluency in this language is required. Interested candidates are welcome to ask for more details and to send their CV, short introduction letter and two reference letters to baczykump@gmail.com and Daniel.Zytnicki@parisdescartes.fr

Position 2: One post-doctoral position in “Molecular and Cellular Biology” is available in the Department of Neurobiology at the Poznan University of Physical Education (Poland) under the co-supervision of Marcin Bączyk and Daniel Zytnicki.

The expected start of the contract is fall 2020, although this is possible to change due to the COVID-19 crisis. The candidate will be in charge of interventions at cellular level using adeno-associated viruses (AAV). S/he will perform AAV injections (intramuscular, intraspinal or intravenous depending on the AAV type), tissue preparation, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, image analysis, interpretation and manuscript drafting. Dr Francesco Roselli will produce the viruses and he is going to contribute to the training and supervision of this Post-Doc. The candidate should have excellent knowledge in cellular biology and particularly in signaling pathways. S/he should have strong experience with immunohistochemical processing, and ideally s/he should be familiar with spinal surgery.
